Jumpstart this October with Ocean Experience at the La Mesa Oktoberfest!

From the first frost and changing of leaves to brilliant colors, to the day we celebrate Columbus's arrival to the Americas and spooky traditions of Halloween, the 31-days of October pave way for a month full of memorable festivities and celebrations. Most anticipated however, is the infamous, German inspired Oktoberfest. This weekend, October 2-4, 2009, marks the 36th annual La Mesa Oktoberfest, also known as the "Grand Daddy of all street fairs" seeing as it is one of the largest Oktoberfest celebration in the West. Surf on the Silver Screen with Ocean Beach Surf & Skate

Spend the evening under the stars, filled with fabulous food and surf flicks!

What better way to spend a Tuesday night then with at The Pearl Hotel for their Surf on the Silver Screen movie nights hosted by Ocean Beach Surf and Skate! The evening kicks off at 8:00 p.m. and runs until 10:00 p.m. on the last Tuesday of each month and features the latest surf flicks. Movie goers will also enjoy free raffles and amazing burger and beer combo specials. OBSS presents the Local Surf Spot, Surf Shot Contest!


Ocean Beach Surf & Skate is proud to announce our first ever Local Surf Spot, Surf Shot Contest! Email us YOUR best photo surfing a San Diego break and enter to win a $50 gift certificate to Ocean Beach Surf & Skate, plus a shop t-shirt and hat!

Surf shots must be of YOU surfing a San Diego surf spot. Email Photo, surf spot location, name, address and phone number to LanetteJ@OBSurfSkate.com.

All submitted surf shots will be posted in a photo album titled: "Local Surf Spot, Surf Shot Contest" on the Ocean Beach Surf & Skate/ Ocean Experience Facebook Fan Page and the photo with the most votes, wins. Only one vote will be counted per person, so chose wisely.You may vote for yourself but multiple votes by the same person will be disregarded and deemed invalid. Votes will only be counted if posted before 5:00 p.m. PST on Friday, October 9, 2009. Winner will be announced on Monday, October 12th, by 5:00 p.m. This contest is only 3 weeks long so hurry, submit your photo and get your vote on!

Paddle for Clean Water this Sunday with Ocean Beach Surf and Skate!



This Sunday, September 13, 2009, marks the 18th Annual Paddle for Clean Water Festival held in Ocean Beach. Using the OB Pier as its center piece, the festival provides everyone the chance to join together and raise awareness for clean water issues that San Diego faces. The event kicks off at 10:00 a.m. with the paddle around the pier, where Ocean Beach Surf and Skate will be providing participants without boards with a FREE board rental. Be sure to arrive early, because the offer is only valid while supplies last! Also, don’t forget to visit Ocean Experience Surf School at their interactive booth inside the Stone Brewery Beer Garden located at the OB Pier Parking lot. The beer garden will be open from 11:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and will feature live musical performances from Pullman Standard, C Money and The Players Inc., Tribal Seeds and Iration, as well as great food and entertainment for all. There will also be a Kids arts and crafts area open on grass park at the end of Newport Avenue. Mark your calendars because this is one event, you won’t want to miss!
