Revolt Summer Surf Series Kick-Off in Ocean Beach!

Check out Ocean Beach Surf and Skate tomorrow, Saturday, June 11, 2011 at the Revolt Summer Surf Series (RSSS) Surf Contest located at the Ocean Beach Pier! RSSS a San Diego-based pro/am surf series contest dedicated to providing a stage for both male and female surfers (professional and amateur) to perform in their sport and be recognized for their achievements. For the past four summers, the RSSS has dedicated itself to the establishment and development of a "green" Pro-am surf series that is supported by surfers and media from around the globe. This platform has allowed the RSSS to help talented surfers advance their skills in a positive and safe competition format. Revolt is proud to provide an eco-friendly, family friendly, outdoor event setting for all of the competitors, sponsors and the thousands of spectators in attendance at each event. RED BULL RIVALS

Support San Diego's South Counties' hottest surfers this Saturday in the Red Bull Rivals!

Red Bull Rivals is a one day surf event pitting San Diego’s North and South County locals against each other. Tapping into an area that consistently churns out heavy-hitters in the surf world, the contest will showcase some of the most talented local up-and-comers. Surfers from each county will be invited to battle it out in a head-to-head competition at Ocean Beach for ultimate bragging rights.

Two teams of 10 will be chosen by Ocean Beach Surf and Skate in the South and Quiver Boardworks and Cole Surfboards in the North. Unique to this contest, the surfers will compete in a tag team format, where one surfer from North County and one from South County will enter the water together and surf their best three waves. They will then run to shore and tag a teammate to go out and do the same; judges will score the best two waves of the three for each surfer and at the end of the day the team with the most points wins. The losing team must give up their surfboards to the winning team, and the winning team will then donate the boards to the Surfrider Foundation.

WHO: Twenty of San Diego’s best local surfers, trying to win bragging rights for themselves and their county. Judges will include: Pro surfer Jamie Sterling and ASP qualified (judging) professionals.

Professional Longboard Championships this Weekend!

Check out the most talented men and women longboarders hang ten this weekend at the 2009 Professional Longboard Assciation Pro Championships! Held at the Oceanside Pier on Saturday, November 14th through Sunday, November 15th, this will be the final event of the five stop PLA tour and they will be naming the PLA Pro Tour winner on Sunday. Also included in this two-day event will be the PLA Surf Expo, featuring food, vendor booths and stages with great live performances from talented San Diego Bands. That's not all though! In conjunction with the PLA Pro Championships will be the 5 mile, stand up paddle board race, held on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. Don't miss this opportunity to witness the final days of this huge longboard championship and stop by the Ocean Beach Surf and Skate and Ocean Experience booth for some free swag and Indo Board fun! The PLA Expo will be open on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Ocean Beach Surf & Skate is proud to announce our first ever Local Surf Spot, Surf Shot Contest! Email us YOUR best photo surfing a San Diego break and enter to win a $50 gift certificate to Ocean Beach Surf & Skate, plus a shop t-shirt and hat!

Surf shots must be of YOU surfing a San Diego surf spot. Email Photo, surf spot location, name, address and phone number to LanetteJ@OBSurfSkate.com.

All submitted surf shots will be posted in a photo album titled: "Local Surf Spot, Surf Shot Contest" on the Ocean Beach Surf & Skate/ Ocean Experience Facebook Fan Page and the photo with the most votes, wins. Only one vote will be counted per person, so chose wisely.You may vote for yourself but multiple votes by the same person will be disregarded and deemed invalid. Votes will only be counted if posted before 5:00 p.m. PST on Friday, October 9, 2009. Winner will be announced on Monday, October 12th, by 5:00 p.m. This contest is only 3 weeks long so hurry, submit your photo and get your vote on!
