Art, Music and Skateboarding This Weekend at the Beats by the Beach Fest!

This Saturday, March 5th (11-5pm) marks the date for the free, karma-filled fundraiser: the Beats by the Beach Festival! Join Ocean Beach Surf and Skate as they help raise funds for the YMCA Youth and Family Services and enjoy:

Festival Highlights:

Live Music. Listen to musical performances by local bands including Habitat, Tommy Dubs, The New Kenetics, and Rightjahs Blend.

Art Show. Enjoy donated artwork by local artists, students, photographers and skateboarders on display.

Skateboard Contest. Watch or participate in the street-course skate contest, open skate sessions and live demos brought to you by OB Surf and Skate.

Meet the Pros. Get their autographs during the professional and amateur skateboarder meet and greet and surprise guest appearances.

Silent Auction and Raffle. Bid on favorite pieces of art or enter to win in the raffle featuring prizes from local businesses and event sponsors.

Hodad’s Burgers. Devour fresh-of-the-grill burgers donated entirely from San Diego's favorite burger joint: Hodad's!

OCEAN BEACH SURF AND SKATE AND LOCAL COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS PRESENT BEATS BY THE BEACH FUNDRAISER

a family fun Festival, raising funds for the ymca youth and family services

Join Ocean Beach Surf and Skate on Saturday, March 5, 2011 for the first ever, Beats by the Beach Fundraiser! This philanthropic festival will run from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and will help raise funds for the YMCA Youth and Family Services (YFS), a non-profit, social service and program provider whose cause is strengthening the community.

This fundraising event will be held in the parking lot adjacent to Ocean Beach Surf and Skate and will feature live musical performances by local bands including Habitat, Tommy Dubs, The New Kenetics and Rightjahs Blend; a street-course skate contest; and fresh-off-the-grill burgers donated entirely from Hodad’s. The event will also feature an art show, showcasing donated artwork from local artists, students, photographers and skateboarders that will be available for purchase in a silent auction. Additionally, there will be a raffle, featuring gifts from local businesses and event sponsors, a face painting booth, an Indo Board interactive booth with surf simulator, yoga and muay tai workshops, and a pro/am skateboarder’s meet and greet staring Tosh Townend and Cano Cardenas with more surprise guests to come! Lastly, the Young At Art Children’s Creative Center in Ocean Beach will be donating their time to organize the event’s mural that will consist of sponsored, decorated art created during the festival.  After the event, the art will be organized to form the mural, framed and then displayed inside Ocean Beach Surf & Skate.

The Vault Yoga and OB Kanobes Grand Opening Party at Ocean Beach Surf and Skate!

Ocean Beach Surf & Skate is proud to announce the grand opening of the two new businesses joining them in their new shop location at 4976 Newport Avenue: The Vault Yoga and Fitness Studio and OB Kanobes Surf Cafe. This celebration will take place this Saturday, February 19 from 12-6pm.

In addition to the new mini-ramp, the newly expanded surf and skate shop will now feature a cafe named OB Kanobes Surf Cafe. This new eatery will have a seating area inside the shop as well as a walk-up window from outside the building and will feature a wide variety of gourmet sandwiches and wraps, fresh juices and smoothies, delicious salads and soups as well as a late night menu filled with every hot dog imaginable.

The Vault is also very excited to celebrate their grand opening as OB’s only non-profit yoga and fitness studio. The studio is literally located in an old bank vault, inside their fitness center where they offer a variety of classes: from Vinyasa Flow and Hatha yoga to kid’s yoga and yoga for surfers .They also offer fitness classes including Muay Tai, Zumba and bootcamps.
